While we have no rules requiring players to select from certain set weapons when designing their NCA, we do have a generalized concept of where technology stands in this universe. Here is a list of some example weapons and what weapon group they might be best suited for.

S(Solid) Sword:
These are melee weapons intended for up close and personal combat. They are sturdy and lightweight, making them excellent for quick manuevering. These weapons would be ideal for your primary weapon group because they require no ammo, and realistically would need no recharge, while yielding a basic but marginal attack power.

Vibro Sword:
Vibro swords, like solid swords, are mele only weapons. These weapons are generally smaller in size and length than conventional blades, but because of their ability to vribrate at an extremely high frequency they make up for their lack in size by being able to cut through almost any metal. They are ideal primary weapons however, as they are still swords and display like characteristics.

E(Energy) Sword:
Energy swords use either some form of charged energy field, or focussed light to attain a blade. Energy blades are extremely light, and very deadly. Their only drawback in any real situation would be power drainage, but because NCA's have a constant flow of power from their nuclear fusion reactors, it's rarely ever a problem. Another ideal primary weapon.

Handgun:
These weapons are light handheld projectile weapons. They can fire any number of types of ammo, but generally their size prohibits any sort of reall damage potential. They make ideal primary weapons if mele is not your style.

Rail Handgun:
These weapons are also primary weapons. Rail Handguns are much lighter hand held versions of their full sized assault class cousins. These weapons offer a greater firing distance than your average handgun, but their damage potention usually isn't as great as it could be. These can be primary or secondary weapons.

Pack Rifle:
This weapon is a lightweight rifle carried often either on the back or hip of a mecha and deployable at liesure. These weapons fire high velocity and often armor piercing rounds at an often marginal rate of fire. Because of the need to change clips with these weapons, and because of their high damage potential, they are ideal for a secondary weapon.

Pack Shotgun:
This weapon, like the pack rifle, is an ideal secondary weapon. Pack shotguns opperate like rifles save that they have a single shot or burst fire rate and their damage, while still at a high potential, covers a wider area of the target.

Minigun/chaingun:
These weapons are extremely powerful in that they can fire at an extremely fast rate. They are heavier than rifles, and spell almost certain doom for your opposition. These are almost certainly qualified for weapons group 3 only.

Rail gun:
Another devistatingly powerful weapon, the rail gun uses magnetic energy to super-accellerate a conductive metal object at many times the speed of a conventional projectile. Because of their massive power usage and their need for a projectile they are commonly reffered to as a hybrid weapon. They are third weapon group material.

Beam Cannon:
There are all number of beam cannons that fire any number of types of beams, from common lasers to positron beams. Beam cannons can come in light medium heavy and assault classes, and therefore can fit into any weapons group. Larger sizes of Beam Cannon can be horribly devistating on the battlefield.
